My Marriage

Christian brothers and sisters,

Please be in prayer for me and for my husband Rick, for we still have a very broken marriage, which has been broken the whole of our 50 years of marriage. And it is still in the bad condition it has always been in. So what we have is not a marriage and it has never been a biblical marriage. What we have are two separate people living separate lives who share a few things in common, like our kids and our grandkids, but we are going opposite directions. We are on friendly terms most of the time, but there is no real connection there. And this is not an area where there can be compromise, for this is not about trivial stuff like just differences of opinion over things. And nothing that I am saying here about our situation is being hidden from my husband, either, for this is a subject that we talk about here and there, for it is an ongoing situation that never ends. So there are no surprises here. And he and I talked about this again in the past couple of hours. He knows he is doing wrong to me and to God, even though he professes faith in Jesus Christ. And all I am asking of you at this time is just to pray. I am just saying we need prayer.

Thank you. Sue

  1. Sue, This is Shannon Rogers whom you met on Twitter a few years ago. I’ve not been able to be back on it except here and there. I have the exact marriage you do if you recall me sharing about my husband’s addiction to porn. It hurts my heart for and with you, bc I know how hard it is being saved and a Christian yet he won’t get counseling and has such anger toward me over what I believe is his anger at himself and toward God. I admire you and always have yet I know the pain and request for prayer. I will pray now for you both as we both know the only answer is God. Please pray for me also. Your posts bless my heart. I just celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniv also yet we don’t have calm days. I wonder why he hates me so much and having been abused as a child and finally, our grandmother getting us at 5, 4, and 1 yr old as she was 73 yrs! God allowed her to live to be 96 and taught us about God’s love. I just want you to know I will pray and continue and I’m here for you anytime. I’m in SC also and share if you desire.  God bless and keep you, Shannon

    1. Shannon, yes I absolutely remember you and our conversations. I got off Twitter because of the new rules I could not agree with, but I do miss the fellowship we had there with other believers in Christ who were of like mind. So, if you are back on there at any time, please give my greetings to all our friends on there.

Thank you so much for responding to my prayer request, and thank you for taking the time to write to me and to update me on your situation. Yes, it is hard to understand, but God is good, and he has a plan for our lives through it all. I just posted a devotion called “Don’t Give Up Hope” which kind of talks about our situations without talking about them specifically, for this applies to many people, not just to those in our particular situations.

I am sorry that things have not improved for you, and thank you for your kindness and your sympathies towards me, as well. And thank you for the prayers. I don’t know if you know this or not, but the Lord has been having me do video talks now on YouTube, and that is going pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/user/Christsfreeservant. So, come and check it out sometime.

I love you in Jesus, and I send my hugs and prayers for your strengthening in the Lord and for you to see his will and purposes for what he is allowing in your life. And stay in touch. You can email me at cfservant@gmail.com.
